CNOOC has struck its first oil in the South China Sea.
The corporation has a 100% interest in the Enping 24-2 oilfield, which is located in the Pear River Mouth Basin of the South China Sea, and has a water depth of 86-96 metres.
There are currently two wells producing 8,000 barrels of crude oil per day and the project is expected to reach its peak production of 40,000 bpd (bpd) in 2017.
The facilities include one drilling and production platform, one floating storage and offloading unit (FPSO) and 17 producing wells.
