Chevron has delayed the second phase of its deep-sea natural gas project.
The scheme located off Indonesia’s Borneo island was due to start in 2019, however a final investment decision for Gendalo-Gehem has yet to be made.
Chevron has since asked for more time to revise its development plan for approval.
It’s thought Gendalo-Gehem would play a critical role in rejuvenating Indonesia’s sluggish production market.
In 2008, depleting output forced the country to withdraw from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
The project represents a $4billion investment and will comprise of two separate hubs, which will each be accompanied by separate floating production units.
