A Valgo Gas project has been suspended after “mechanical difficulties” were found in one if its wells, delaying its completion.
Drilling on the #3 well on the Vostochny Makarovskoye has halted after a drill pipe got stuck at a depth of 2,556 metres.
The firm is working with a contractor to resolve the issue but attempts have been unsuccessful.
It is likely that the project will not be finished until H1 2015, postponing the expected production growth from the VM field until mid-2015.
Existing wells on the field are not thought to be affected, producing production at a level of 4,700 oil equivalent per day (boepd).
The company predicted earlier this year that the venture would produce more than 560,000 cubic metres per day .
