Technip has been awarded an engineering and procurement contract for a chemical ethylene plant expansion in Louisiana.
The award will see the French company provide its services to expand the recovery section of Westlake’s Petro 1 ethylene plant at its complex in Sulphur.
Technip’s operating centre in Houston will execute the project with support from the group’s office in Mumbai.
The contract win was given to the company by Westlake Chemical Corporation.
Stan Knez, senior vice president of Technip Stone & Webster Process Technology, said: “This award follows a series of Technip feasibility studies to help Westlake evaluate expansion options and development of the process design package and front end engineering design for the expansion.
“Technip is pleased to bring its extensive ethylene plant modernization experience and continue its involvement in bringing this important project to fruition.”
The recovery section of an ethylene plant separates and purifies cracked gas into saleable products such as ethylene and propylene.
The contract win is the most recent in a string of awards over the past month.
Last week, Technip was awarded a contract for the Nasr Phase II full field development project by Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO).
