Swiss chemical giant Ineos has its eyes on the North East oil and gas industry, a report said yesterday.
Ineos, which owns the huge petrochemicals complex at Grangemouth, announced just last week it planned to spend £640million on shale gas exploration in the UK.
The US is enjoying a shale boom and Ineos aims to have a big stake in exploration and potentially production this side of the Atlantic.
Yesterday’s report said it was on the lookout for “senior recruits” for a new oil and gas division to help feed its UK refininng facilities, including the plant at Grangemouth.
