Aberdeen oil service company MacArtney UK has expanded through the acquisition of Ellon cable moulding firm Callidus Subsea.
MacArtney UK – part of Denmark’s MacArtney Group – said yesterday the move supported its aim to become a market leader in the design and production of cable assemblies and mouldings.
The value of the deal was not disclosed. It comes just a week after MacArtney UK announced record annual turnover of £18.2million, up by 18% on the year before.
Callidus’s last reported turnover was £1 million.
Its six employees, including previous owners Mike Callaghan and Derek Woodrow, are all transferring to MacArtney UK’s premises at Dyce.
Mr Callaghan is now the new owner’s cable services manager and Mr Woodrow is workshop supervisor.
MacArtney UK managing director David Buchan said: “Callidus Subsea and their staff have a lot of experience operating in the North Sea and that expertise is of great value to MacArtney UK.”
MacArtney UK currently employs 54 people and produces a wide range of offshore marine equipment from cables and connectors to underwater cameras and electronics.
