Total has confirmed the start-up of oil production from one of its North Sea projects.
The Eldesk II project on the PL 018 license of the Norwegian North Sea is producing oil in line with its schedule that was approved in 2011.
The company said the venture increase oil recovery of the Eldfisk field and has a production capacity of 70,000 barrels of oil inequivalent per day.
Michael Borrell, Total’s senior vice president of exploration & production in Europe and Central Asia, said: “The Eldfisk II project should extend the lifespan of Eldfisk for some 40 further years,” said
“Following the start-up of Ekofisk South end of 2013, the start-up of Eldfisk II demonstrates once again the potential for value creation in mature fields such as the Greater Ekofisk Area.”
The Elsfisk II is 300km off the Norwegian coast.
