Offshore standby vessel operator Atlantic Offshore Rescue (AOR) has appointed a new managing director.
Matthew Gordon joined the Aberdeen company at the start of the year and replaces John Bryce, who gives up the helm after playing a key role in the firm’s recent growth. Mr Bryce will continue to be involved in AOR in a consultancy capacity, the company said.
Mr Gordon’s previous jobs include a general manager position at Viking Seatech and an eight-year stint at subsea construction giant Subsea 7, where his roles included account manager for key clients in the UK, Dutch and Irish sectors and regional manager for Europe, Africa and the Middle East in the group’s Veripos subsidiary.
AOR, which is part of Norway’s Atlantic Offshore Group (AOG), employs 350 people – about 330 offshore and 20 office-based workers – in the provision of multi-role offshore and emergency rescue and response vessels for many of the oil majors operating in the North Sea.
Mr Bryce said: “Matthew’s many years of expertise in the oil and gas industry makes him the perfect candidate for the role.
“He brings vision, extensive skills and strategic thinking, which is needed in order to continue the success of Atlantic Offshore Rescue.”
Mr Gordon said: “It is an exciting time to join the business and I am keen to build on John’s success. We are a niche provider within the UK (emergency response and rescue vessel market) and the team’s ambition is something that excites me.”
AOG operates a fleet of 24 ERRVs and platform supply vessels (PSVs), and manages other PSVs on behalf of third parties.
