Oil spill response will be the focus of an oil and gas industry conference in the Netherlands next month.
The Inerspill conference and exhibition in Amsterdam will run from March 24 to 26 and will reaffirm the importance of maintaining a focus in the event of such incidents.
Technical director of IPIECA, and Interspill chairman, Rob Cox said “significant progress” had been made since the Montara and Macondo oil spills.
He added: “Significant progress has been made in the aftermath of the Montara and Macondo incidents by the offshore industry but we must not take our eye off the ball; it is vital this work continues.
“The upstream community is more engaged than ever and legislation is hardening, so we are expecting a lot of debate around articulating the financial impacts of risk to help progress response capability for the offshore sector.”
The event in the Dutch capital draws academics, government and industry heads to discuss the latest developments in spill response and prevention.
This year the event will host their biggest ever exhibition, with more than 100 exhibitors set to demonstrate their latest innovations.
Their conference programme includes talks on future risk, stakeholder engagement, multi-agency response, wildlife preparedness and regulation.
