The board of Songa Offshore has appointed a former Statoil vice president as a director.
Johan Kr Mikkelsen has 40 years’ experience from both Norsk Hydro and Statoil after entering the oil and gas industry in 1974.
After a number of roles, he returned to Norway in 2012 as vice president for the Statoil Subsea Improvement Project until early last year when he retired from the company.
He is currently the chief technology officer with Perestroika AS.
Last year, Songa Offshore signed loan agreements for its last two Cat D drilling rigs.
The $1.1billion deal is for the Songa Encourage and Songa Enabler and consists of a revolving pre-delivery financing of $90million per rig and a post-delivery financing of $550million per rig.
