Zenith Energy has commenced drilling at the UK’s first conventional onshore exploration well of 2015.
The company has initiated operations of the Europa Oil & Gas operated Kiln Lane well, which is located in Lincolnshire on licence PEDL 181.
The Kiln Lane well is the first full project management contract for Zenith Energy, which will involve drilling to a total depth of approximately 2,500 metres.
Europa Oil & Gas estimates Kiln Lane, a conventional exploration well targeting oil in Upper Carboniferous sandstone reservoirs, has mean gross un-risked recoverable resources of 2.9 million barrels of oil.
The independent well engineering and project management company, which is based in Aberdeen, has executed all well planning, regulatory permitting and full project management of the drilling operation.
Managing director of Zenith Energy, Martin Booth, said: “The Kiln Lane well is Zenith’s first complete well management project and we are pleased to announce that drilling has begun.
“Due to previous work with Europa Oil & Gas, we have built a close working relationship with the firm, so it is great to work on this exciting project so we can again showcase our skills and expertise.
“It’s a great achievement to be involved in one of the first onshore wells in the UK in 2015 and a fantastic start to our third year of business, as we continue to expand our client portfolio and track record of working with a number of operators worldwide.”
