
Millions of pounds of funding is available to support innovations which offer cleaner, low-cost and more efficient conventional fuels.
Innovate UK is offering £6million to new technologies that increase efficiency, reduce the cost and minimise the environmental impact of coal, natural gas and oil.
Of this fund, £4million will be set aside for business-led, collaborative research and development projects ranging in size from £250,000 to £1.5million.
In addition, £1million will be available for smaller-scale feasibility studies and a further £1million is available for academic projects that meet the National Environment Research Council’s funding criteria.
The deadline for the two-stage application process for collaborative projects is noon on April 15. The deadline for feasibility studies is noon on 10 June 2015.
NERC is also planning a separate five-year £5million oil and gas innovation programme with decommissioning as one of the key themes, for which a workshop is planned in Aberdeen on Wednesday, April 1.
