Aberdeen well management and performance improvement specialist Exceed has enjoyed a good start to 2015 with “significant” new business being secured in Southeast Asia.
The firm’s performance improvement division has won its first Malaysia-based contract worth around $600,000 (£400,000).
In this case, performance coaches are working alongside client rig teams, developing front-line solutions to achieve optimal operational efficiency, reduce costs and eliminate waste.
The three-year call-off contract will see up to three members of the division working in the region.
Exceed’s well management division has just completed the first ever ultra-deepwater 1,767m (5,800ft) well in Myanmar, also Southeast Asia.
Well planning began in February last year and drilling operations were completed just a few days ago on March 31. The work was worth around $8million and involved a team of 24.
Exceed Canada has also helped to bolster the company’s international credentials, being proactively involved in the acceptance testing of a rig which is being purpose built to suit the increasingly harsh environment offshore Eastern Canada.
Ian Mills, who founded Exceed a decade ago, said: “The work in Southeast Asia is an important step forward in our global growth plans. Investment in our business has been a key part of supporting that growth, with £500,000 committed over the last 12 months.
“A particular focus has been on inward investment, bringing in new and skilled people to support Exceed’s global expansion plans, with 12 new staff members taken on in the last year.
“Attracting the very best talent is at the heart of our business, as it is our people and our expertise which sets us apart.”
Exceed has also rebranded, launching the new presence at the recent SPE/IADC drilling conference in London and using the opportunity to also fund-raise for charity.
Also, the Exceed Trust recently pledged $110,000 (£70,000) to build an orphanage in Ghana and during the exhibition, staff distributed building blocks to delegates as part of a “pay it forward” initiative.
Each block that was returned to the company’s stand was used to create a replica of the new orphanage and for every block returned, Exceed made a cash donation to the trust.
