Atlas Knowledge has secured a contract to deliver safety training for workers involved in the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project.
The deal will see a total of 11 courses delivered to almost 300 onshore personnel working on the planned construction of the pipeline.
It will bring natural gas across Greece, Albania and Italy through the Southern Gas corridor.
Kevin Short, Atlas Knowledge’s commercial director, said: “This is a dynamic project with an important new client and it will allow us to bring the expertise we have honed in the offshore oil and gas sector over the past 20 years into a new arena.
“Atlas is committed to improving safety and competency standards on oil and gas projects around the world and the contract award recognizes our ability to deliver quality and reliability as well as our capability to offer our customers a wide range of customized training packages and deploy them around the world.”
The training, which will include a mix of existing and fully customised course, will include fire safety, safe driving and manual handling.
This is the first contract with a pipeline company that Aberdeen-headquartered Atlas Knowledge has secured.
The initial contract will run until 2017.
TAP will transport natural gas from the giant Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan to Europe. The approximately 870 km long pipeline will connect with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) near the Turkish-Greek border at Kipoi, cross Greece and Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Southern Italy.
