Oil giant Shell has chosen Asco to run its Darwin supply base for its Prelude floating LNG project.
The contractor will begin a gradual ramp-up from later this year at the facility as part of a five-year deal.
ASCO will be handling Prelude’s operations and maintenance logistics requirements.
The company’s Australasia chief executive Matt Thomas said:”In a highly cost-conscious environment, suppliers such as ASCO need to deliver innovation and improvements across the entire supply chain.
“We set out to work with them as a partner and in this sense we intend to operate more like a department within their organisation rather than a contractor.”
ASCO will also carry out management of Shell’s onshore supply base, road and air-freight transport of inventory within Australia, and supply vessel support through Darwin’s marine supply base.
The Prelude platform will be located about 800 kilometres west of Darwin.
Earlier this year Asco won a contract with BP worth more than £100million to help support the oil major’s North Sea operations.
