A man has been evacuated by helicopter from a North Sea oil platform.
Shetland Coastguard were involved in the operation on the ageing Beryl Alpha when the worker had to be taken by helicopter to hospital after a medical emergency.
A spokesman said: “It was a medical evacuation.”
He said: “Apache North Sea can confirm that earlier today a crew member reported feeling unwell onboard the Beryl Fields dedicated emergency response rescue vessel (ERRV) and was transferred to the company operated Beryl Alpha platform. A helicopter with additional medical support has carried out a medevac and is en route to hospital in Shetland.
“The Beryl oil field is located 180 miles north north east of Aberdeen, in the UK sector of the northern North Sea.
“The safety and wellbeing of everyone on board remains Apache’s principal concern.
