BP Trinidad and Tobago plans to commence drilling operations after the arrival of the Ocean Victory rig to the offshore Juniper contract.
The rig, which is owned and operated by Diamond Offshore Drilling, will take personnel equipment and supplies to the offshore location.
Ocean Victory is able to drill to a total depth of 25,000ft and in water depths of up to 6,000ft.
The rig has been contracted to drill five subsea wells at the Juniper platform and the contract is for an initial term of two years.
The Juniper field is expected to deliver first gas in 2017 and has a production capacity of about 590million standard cubic feet a day.
BPTT regional president Norman Christie said: “The arrival of the Diamond Ocean Victory rig is an important milestone in the execution of the Juniper campaign. In adding a third rig to our fleet, bpTT continues to demonstrate continued commitment to Trinidad and Tobago.
“This development is an important part of the future for bpTT, because it will assist the company in meeting its natural gas commitments to the market.”
