A subsea company which made its debut just months ago has landed its first major overseas deal worth more than six figures.
Subsea Tooling Services first set out their stall at the Subsea Expo in Aberdeen in February.
Yesterday the firm was celebrating the shipping out of the firm’s own-design “Predator” dredging system to a major US firm based in Houston that will be putting the unit to use in the Gulf of Mexico.
Subsea Tooling, which is based at the Oldmeldrum business park, is also set to establish a partnership with a Brazilian company, Macsea, which will become Subsea Tooling’s sole distributor in the Americas.
Finance director Emily Anderson said: “This was our first big and overseas order. With the downturn in the North Sea oil industry, abroad is the larger market. By having this new partnership with Macsea we are opening up a whole new customer base. Of course we’ll still have local Scottish and British jobs to fulfil, but we are hoping to have a strong presence abroad now as well.”
