A former international director at state-run oil firm Petrobas has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Nestor Cervero is the second person to be convicted in the ongoing corruption scandal.
Federal Judge Sergio Moro said there was evidencd that Cervero has created a company, as a front, to launder money.
The former director was fired from Petrobas last year and arrested after returning from Europe.
It is also believed he had received bribes in exchange for awarding drilling ship contracts.
Petrobas executives and engineering firms have been accussed of inflating the value of service contracts and funneling the excess funds into their own bank accounts and to politicial parties.
More than 100 people have been indicted and 50 politicians are currently under investigation for taking bribe money.
Last month, Paulo Roberto Costa, director of refining and supply, was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison.
However he will serve only one year of house arrest because he signed a plea bargain with prosecutors.
