CNOOC has made a mid-sized discovery in the South China Sea.
The company has just drilled and completed the LH20-2-1 well to a depth of about 2,970metres, encountering oil pay zones with a thickness of 35.2metres.
The well is located on the Northern Slope belt of Baiyun Sag in the Pearl River Mouth Basin.
The oil production of the well tested around 8,000 barrels per day.
CNOOC said the successful exploration of the well had further proven the potential of the region.
