The oil and gas industry will have the chance to give their view on plans for a city deal in Aberdeen.
Politicians, industry experts and businesses located in the energy capital of Europe have long called for investment to improve the infrastructure of the city.
Now the city deal will become the main focus of discussion at the closing session of Oil & Gas UK’s annual conference from June 17 – 18.
The recently appointed chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, Deirdre Michie, will be joined by Professor Rita Marcella, the dean of faculty at Aberdeen Business School, the leader of Aberdeenshire Council Jim Gifford and Maggie McGinlay from Scottish Enterprise.
The event, which is now just a couple of weeks away, will also feature keynote speakers including the OGA’s (Oil and Gas Authority) Andy Samuel and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
Other notable speakers include BP’s Trevor Garlick, regional president of North Sea, and John Person from Amec Foster Wheeler.
Deirdre Michie has called for cooperation from across the industry in a bid to tackle the efficiency challenge the sector faces.
She said: “Oil & Gas UK is helping the drive for a more efficient industry and our conference next month will, I hope, provide a stimulating and timely forum for the industry to debate the issues, share best practice and spark new ideas.”
