Serica Energy said production at the Erskine field in the North Sea has been around 2,000boepd (barrels of oil equivalent per day) since it restarted two months ago.
The field, which is 150 miles east of Aberdeen, had previously been shut down from September last year to late May due to work on the Lomond platform.
The oil and gas explorer said four of the five wells at the asset are now in production and exceeding estimated potential.
A fifth well is expected to come into production in the third quarter of 2015.
Serica’s share of production has so far exceeded 2,000boepd on 25% of the days since the re-start.
The early indications from Erskine were said to be “encouraging” but Serica also warned more time would be needed to fully assess the impact of production resuming.
The company holds an 18% interest in the producing field where it is partners with BG Group, which holds a 32% stake and Chevron which operated the field with a 50% stake.
Serica had purchased its share in January 2014, however the deal was only completed last month, a year after first being announced.
Negotiations are still taking place to bring the Columbus asset on stream.
