Bowleven, the Africa-focused oil and gas exploration group, has confirmed the first of a two-well exploration programme in Cameroon, has been drilled to its planned total depth and logged.
Hydrocarbons were encountered in the Zingana well in the Bomono permit and evaluation is being undertaken. Zingana is being suspended as planned to enable future re-entry. The rig will be moved to the previously undrilled Moambe well, located just over 2km east of Zingana. The intention is to drill, log and evaluate both wells prior to determining any testing plan.
Bowleven chief executive Kevin Hart said: “We are encouraged by the well results to date at Zingana. The evaluation of log and well data acquired at Zingana is continuing and we are now looking forward to drilling the second exploration well in the programme, Moambe.”
