Technip has landed work for two projects in Egypt, including refining a “bottom of the barrel” frame.
The firm struck a deal with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Assiut Oil Refining Company (ASORC) for the modernization of the Assiut refinery in Upper Egypt.
The project is thought to be worth $1.5billion.
Technip also secured a contract with Midor (Middle East Oil Refinery) for a project to modernize and expand the MIDOR refinery near Alexandria, Egypt. Total investment for the project was valued at $1.4billion and will see the plant increase its refining capacity from 100,000 to 160,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
Earlier this month, Technip confirmed it would make 6,000 redundancies.
The firm previously said it was too early to know North Sea numbers.
