BG group has achieved first oil from the Cidade de Itaguai floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) in the Santos Basin.
The company said the FPSO is the sixth unit to start production across the group’s discoveries, offshore Brazil.
The vessel will produce from the Iracema North area of the Lula field in the Petrobas-operated S-11 block.
The Cidade de Itaquai is the second leased FPSO on the Iracema development and is set to double the gross production capacity to 300 thousand barrels of oil per day and 16 million cubic metres of natural gas per day from the area.
It will also be able to store 1.6million barrels of oil and is 2220 metres above the ocean floor.
BG Group has a 25% interest in Block BM-S-11 which is shared along with operator Petróleo Brasileiro which has 65% and Petrogal Brasil which has a 10% share.
