The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has issued a drilling permit to operator VNG Norge for a new wildcat well in the North Sea.
Well 6406/12-4A will be drilled from the Transocean Arctic drilling facility under production licence 586. The well will be drilled about 33km south-west of the Njord field.
VNG Norge owns 30% of the interest with Spike Exploration holding 30%, Faroe Petroleum 25% and Rocksource Exploration 15%.
Production licence 586 was awarded in 2011. This is the fifth exploration well to be drilled under the licence.
