Aker Solutions has confirmed it is set to axe up to 70 North Sea jobs.
The Norwegian firm said the move, announced to staff at its Dyce offices this morning, was part of a wider cost cutting programme announced last month.
Overall the company said it would cut 500 jobs across operations in Norway and 400 roles outside of the country.
This follows on from a further 500 job looses announced last year which prompted the company to cancel previously lavish staff Christmas parties in solidarity with employees who were losing their jobs.
A spokeswoman for Aker said: “As previously announced in September, Aker Solutions is reducing its workforce capacity outside of Norway, primarily in the subsea area, because of a continued market slowdown.
“As many as 70 of these positions are expected to be in our subsea business in the UK.
“As part of this process we have today entered into a 30-day redundancy consultation with UK employee representatives, which we are informing employees about in meetings today.”
