Repsol’s latest wildcat well in the Norwegian North Sea has come up dry.
The 6306/5-2 well was drilled about 65 kilometres southwest of the Njord field.
The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in Upper Jurassic reservoir rocks (the Rogn formation) and Upper Jurassic reservoir rocks (the Melke formation), said the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
Data acquisition and sampling have been carried out.
This is the first exploration well in production licence 642.bWater depth at the site is 226 metres. The well will now be permanently plugged and abandoned.
Well 6306/5-2 was drilled by the Bredford Dolphin drilling facility, which will now proceed to drill wildcat well 16/1-25 S in production licence 338C in the North Sea, where Lundin is the operator.
