Norwegian operator Statoil is reported to have told made staff in the US redundant after they refused to take voluntary redundancy.
According to reports in Norwegian press, the staff are amongst around 100 members of staff who have been affected by job losses.
The staff had been offered a voluntary redundancy package or the possibility of alternative positions within the Statoil organisation.
A spokesman for Statoil said there had not been enough submissions for voluntary redundancy.
It meant those who had not found alterative jobs were told earlier this month they would lose their jobs.
The staff affected worked at their offices in Houston and Austin.
