Total E&P has applied to the UK Government’s Department of Energy and Climate Change for consent to increase production on the Dunbar field.
A public notice from the French energy company said it had made its application for the field, 133km off the east of Aberdeen, in accordance with all the necessary documentation.
Total has been in the UK since 1982, with more than 90% of its production coming from the Alwyn/Dunbar area in the Northern North Sea and the Elgin/Franklin are in the Central Graben.
The application has been made under the Offshore Petroleum Production and Pipeline (Assessment of Environmental Effects) Regulations 1999.
Members of the public will have until December 18th to make representation in relation to the application to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.
In August, Total said it had sold off “all of its interests” in the FUKA and SIRGE gas pipelines and the St Fergus Gas Terminal for $905million.
