Texas boss Mike Mullen said his firm inking a $222million deal with Maersk Oil & Gas was like winning the “Powerball”.
CBI-MMEER Accommodation won the five-year Danish North Sea deal to supply the operator with one its new build jack-up accommodation units.
Speaking to the Dallas morning news, Mullen said: “It’s like winning Powerball, to be able to have a contract awarded at the time of delivery of your first new build.”
The company’s new builds include luxury amenities, including a spa, gym and pool tables. The jack-up will be shipped from China to Denmark.
“It can get really lonely out there,” Mullen added.
Mullen was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1973 before leaving professional football and transitioning into life offshore.
The rig, which cost $165millin to design and build, will begin the contract in April next year.
