Songa Offshore said one of its rigs is currently being repaired after a blowout preventer equipment failure while final tests were being carried out on location at Statoil’s Troll field.
The company said all required spare parts are on the Songa Endurance ready to resolve the incident.
The Songa Equinox commenced drilling operations last month under its eight-year drilling contract with Statoil at the Troll field.
Songa said the rig had been on operating rate up to Christmas Eve, while the period between then and New Year’s Eve is currently being discussed in relation to what period the rig was on
“waiting-on-weather” rate or on downtime.
The rig is currently performing equipment repair.
Meanwhile the Songa Trym is currently being stacked while it is marketed for new employment, following early cancellation of its most recent drilling contract.
