Bilfinger Salamis said it has launched a jobs consultation with staff over a number of positions.
The move was made after a change in scope for the company on Taqa assets.
The company would not confirm how many positions were affected but it is understood to around 17 roles.
A spokeswoman for the company said:”Bilfinger Salamis UK has initiated a consultation with staff on one of our client’s assets as a result of a change in our scope of work.
“Unfortunately, this may result in a small number of roles being made redundant. We are continuing to work closely with trade unions during discussions and effort is being made to find alternative solutions where possible.
“As consultations are ongoing it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this stage.”
Oil major BP yesterday said it was reducing its headcount by up to 600 positions across its North Sea operations.
It comes after Petrofac announce it was looking to making up to 160 redundancies also.
A spokeswoman for Taqa said:”Following the implementation of a new offshore structure announced in August 2015 and a subsequent change in scope of work, a small number of contractor roles on one of TAQA’s assets are currently under consultation.
“As consultations are ongoing it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time.”
