Oil tanker berthings at the Sullom Voe oil terminal in Shetland have been suspended until at least the early hours of tomorrow morning because of high winds, port authority and trade sources said today.
Brent crude oil, which underpins the dated Brent benchmark price against which most of the world’s oil deals are based, loads at Sullom Voe.
A source at the terminal said: “It is suspended due to high wind at the moment. We’ve got one tanker due to come in but it will be after midnight and possibly three in the morning before it can come in.”
Loadings were expected to resume once the winds had died down, the source added.
BP, which runs Sullom Voe and the Forties Pipeline System that delivers Forties to Hound Point, did not confirm or deny the reports.
