US firm Erin Energy has booked a rig for a drilling campaign offshore Nigeria.
Erin, headquartered in Houston, said it had inked a contract with Pacific Drilling for the Pacific Bora rig.
The rig is currently in Nigeria and is expected to arrive at the Oyo field in June.
The contract base rate is $195,000 per day.
Erin Energy expects to spud the Oyo-9 well mid-June with first production to follow in September.
Oyo-9 is expected to add an additional 6,000 to 7,000 barrels per day.
Erin’s interim chief executive, Jean-Michel Malek, said: “The execution of this rig contract is an important step in advancing our 2017 work program and our development of the Oyo field in the deepwater offshore Nigeria.”
