Nigerian militants today threatened to unleash their “most deadly” wave of attacks on oil installations.
Niger Delta Avengers said in a statement on their website that the attacks would begin in “a few days’ time”.
The group said they would target several in platforms and the FPSO on Total’s Egina field.
“Oil installations shall dance to the sound of the fury of the Niger Delta Avengers,” the militants said.
They attacked oil facilities in 2016 before agreeing a ceasefire.
However, the ceasefire was lifted in November 2017.
Oil fields and pipelines in Nigeria have been targeted by militants who feel local communities have not benefited sufficiently from the oil industry.
