Aberdeen-based Stena Drilling has won a contract to provide a drillship for a well campaign off Ghana.
The Stena Forth vessel has been booked by Springfield Exploration and Production for the wells on West Cape Three Points (WCTP) Block 2, starting with the Oak prospect.
Stena Forth will get down to work for Springfield once it finishes its contract with Tullow Oil in Guyana, where oil was struck at Jethro-1, the first discovery on the Orinduik licence.
On the contract win with Springfield, Stena Drilling chief executive Erik Ronsberg said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have signed a contract with Springfield Exploration & Production and very grateful for SEP’s confidence in our company.
“We have worked in Ghana for several years now, building our Ghanaian crew compliment on Stena Forth to over 50%, so we are thrilled to be playing a part in Ghana’s exciting future together with an inspiring company like SEP.”
