France’s Bourbon will provide a logistics package to Shell for upcoming exploration wells offshore Namibia and Sao Tomé & Principe.
The project will cover a number of aspects, including international freight forwarding, integrated logistics and platform supply vessel (PSV) services.
“We are more than proud to accompany Shell once again in these new exploration campaigns, which testifies to a common trust and confidence,” said Bourbon Logistics’ managing director Nicolas Chateau.
“Bourbon Logistics will strive to ensure the timely delivery of the entire supply chain while guaranteeing our client the highest safety standards. The implementation of our Bourbon Logistics service confirms the group’s strategy to offer our clients increasingly comprehensive services and adapt to their constantly changing needs.”
Bourbon will provide shipment and clearance of equipment from Houston to Namibia’s Walvis Bay. It will also manage the logistics base and associated services, which include handling and lifting, material management and tank cleaning.
Bourbon will provide two PSVs, two PX105s and one P105, for the work.
The French company said it would oversee this entire programme using its Bourbon Logistics Suite, a digital management system.
The company did not disclose the cost of the contract. It will provide support via its Bourbon Logistics Namibia unit, alongside a local company, Logistics Support Services (LSS).
Shell reached a deal on a drilling rig in August. Valaris said it would provide its DS-10 rig for the two wells, first in Namibia and then in Sao Tome.
Work is expected to start in the fourth quarter of this year.
