The number of rigs exploring for oil and gas in the US has dropped by 12 this week, according to the latest figures.
The number currently stands at 464, compares to 1,048 last year when rigs were active.
Baker Hughes said 372 rigs sought oil and 92 were being used to explore for natural gas in its most recent update.
Texas lost wight oil rigs, while Oklahoma lost three and Alaska two.
Meanwhile, Kansas and Pennsylvania both lost one respectively.
The figures in Arkansas, California, North Dakota, Ohio, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming were all left unchanged.
