Hunt Oil said it plans to reduce its headcount by 10% amid the lower oil price.
The Texas-based company had around 4,500 employees at the end of 2014.
The job losses are expected from its subsidiary Hunt Consolidated.
It comes after Chevron said it would be reducing its headcount by more than 600 jobs from its Houston base.
