At least three people have been injured and hundreds evacuated after an explosion at a Pemex oil facility.
Governor Javier Duarte said the explosion was at a facility owned by Mexico’s state oil company in the port city of Coatzacoalcos.
Pemex took to social media to say at least three people had been hurt. The operator, which said the part of the factory hit by the explosion was managed by its sister company, Mexichem, was forced to evacuate hundreds of workers.
The cause is not yet known.
Governor Duarte said local authorities were working alongside Pemex to respond to the incident.
