The number of rigs operating in the US went up again this week as the Baker Hughes rig count continued its hot streak.
US rigs were up 15 from last week to 539, with oil rigs up four to 432, gas rigs up 11 to 105, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at two, according to the rig count, which acts as a barometer for the drilling industry.
Year-on-year the US rig count is down 248 rigs from last year’s 787, with oil rigs down 163, gas rigs down 87, and miscellaneous rigs up two.
The US offshore rig count is 23, the same as last week, but down 10 rigs year-on-year.
Canada’s rig count came in at 165 – unchanged from last week, but 16 short of last years’ figure.
