The number of rigs operating in the US went up again last week as the Baker Hughes rig count’s purple patch continued.
US rigs were up four from the previous week to 557, with oil rigs down two to 441, gas rigs up six to 114, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at two, according to the rig count, which acts as a barometer for the drilling industry.
Year-on-year the US rig count was down 218 rigs from last year’s 775, with oil rigs down 137, gas rigs down 83, and miscellaneous rigs up two.
The US offshore rig count is 22, one worse off compared to the previous week, and down 11 rigs year-on-year.
Canada’s rig count came in at 153 – up by 10 week-on-week, but 38 short of last years’ figure.
