The number of rigs operating in the US crept up this week, the latest Baker Hughes rig count shows.
US rigs were up four from the previous week to 597, with oil rigs up three to 477, gas rigs up one to 119, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at one, according to the rig count, which acts as a barometer for the drilling industry.
Year-on-year the US rig count was down 140 from last year’s 737, with oil rigs down 68, gas rigs down 73, and miscellaneous rigs up one.
The US offshore rig count is 22, one fewer compared to the previous week, and down three rigs year-on-year.
Canada’s rig count came in at 200 – up by 26 week-on-week, and 23 ahead of last years’ figure.
