A bunkering tanker ran aground off Little Pond, Nova Scotia, Canada, the Canadian Coastguard confirmed.
The Arca’s six crew members had to be rescued after the tanker ran aground. The vessel’s main engine failed just before the incident unfolded. It was carrying 15 tons of fuel.
The tanker was travelling from Cap-aux-Meules to Sydney, Canada, before heading to Mexico.
The Arca is operated by Mexican company Petroil Marine.
The hull of the tanker, which was built in 1963, is not thought to be seriously damaged and no pollution has been reported.
