Hundreds of people are protesting against a perceived ‘threat to science’ that they claim is posed by President Donald Trump’s US administration.
Scientists, environmentalists and other activists joined together in Boston over the weekend to take a stand against the commander in chief’s stance on climate change.
The ‘Rally to Stand Up for Science’ in the city’s Copley Square was held as the American Association for the Advancement of Science met for its yearly meeting.
Teachers, lecturers, professors and students stood side by side with banners and plaques with slogans like “Make America Smart Again”.
The US president made remarks in the past in which he suggested that global warming was a hoax.
Several vocal activists are reported to have claimed Mr Trump’s stance on the topic and similar environmental issues presents a threat to the “backbone” of American “prosperity and progress”.
