The number of rigs operating in the US went up this week, the latest Baker Hughes rig count shows.
US rigs were up by eight from the previous week to 847, with oil rigs up 11 to 683, though gas rigs were down three to 162.
Miscellaneous rigs were unchanged on two, according to the rig count, which acts as a barometer for the drilling industry.
Year-on-year the US rig count was up 407 from last year’s 440, with oil rigs up 332 and gas rigs up by 73.
The US offshore rig count is 21, down by one compared to last week, and down seven year-on-year.
Canada’s rig count came in at 118 – up by 14 week-on-week, but 78 ahead of last years’ figure.
