US president Donald Trump is to announce his decision on whether to pull the country out of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change in the coming days.
The property tycoon turned Commander in Chief took to his favored method of mass engagement, Twitter, to make the announcement.
It said: “I will be announcing my decision on the Paris Accord over the next few days. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump pledged while still on the presidential campaign trail that he may pull the US out of the global pact to fight climate change.
But since then he appointed a well known global warming sceptic to head up the Environmental Protection Agency.
One source, who claims to have been briefed on the situation, said Trump was likely to honour the campaign pledge and pull out of the deal.
It would follow his established policy or ripping down domestic red tape over regulations that the US believes is limiting fossil fuel industries.
Since taking office, Trump has backtracked on a number of key policies relating to climate change that predecessor Barack Obama had championed.
