ExxonMobil has confirmed the award of contracts for the next phase of the Liza project in Guyana – including one for SBM Offshore.
SBM Offshore will construct, install, lease and operate a FPSO vessel for the firm.
The company’s chief executive Bruno Chabas welcomed the news, and put the award down to the company’s experience.
He said: “We are proud that ExxonMobil awarded SBM Offshore the contracts for the Liza FPSO. The Liza Field offshore Guyana is one of the industry’s largest oil discoveries of the past decade. We look forward to cooperating closely with our client and partners to make this project a success.
“This award underlines SBM Offshore’s continued focus on building on our experience, our long term relationships and FPSO-led strategic vision.”
The FPSO is designed to produce up to 120,000 bopd, with a gas treatment capacity of about 170 million cubic feet per day.
The Liza field covers almost 27,000 square kilometres and is about 200 kilometres offshore Guyana.
The field is operated by Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited, which owns a 45% stake in the Stabroek field.
Production from the field is expected to begin by 2020.
