UK oil exploration firm Echo Energy said drilling had started on the first of four wells it is targeting in Argentina.
Latin-America focused Echo said the Petreven H-205 rig had spudded the first exploration well on the firm’s onshore Fracción C asset.
The play is thought to contain 38billion cubic feet of gas.
Echo chief executive Fiona MacAulay said: “We are delighted to be starting our exciting four well exploration campaign shortly after the successful workover well campaign in Fracción D.
“A presentation with further details on the exploration well location and target structure will be uploaded to the Company website shortly.”
